Frequently asked questions.

  • Yes. As of April of 2025, U.S. passport holders do need a tourist visa to enter Brazil. We recommend starting this process a few months in advance. You can apply online through the Brazilian government’s e-visa system.

Visit the Brazilian government-authorized website to obtain your e-visa: https://brazil.vfsevisa.com

    Cost: $80.90 per visa

  • Cocktail or semi-formal attire is perfect.

Feel free to wear whatever you’d normally wear to a wedding—but just a heads up: Brazilians love to dress up! You’ll probably see lots of suits, long dresses, and high heels. So if you’ve been waiting for an excuse to get fancy—this is it!

  • Like many large cities, Belo Horizonte has both safe and less safe areas. We recommend taking usual travel precautions, using registered taxis or ride apps, and staying in well-reviewed accommodations. If you have questions, feel free to ask us!

    Quick tips:

    • Do not wear jewelry

    • If you need to use your phone on the street, it is safer to enter inside of a store or enclosed location (you’re generally fine inside of shopping malls or cafés, for example)

    • If the area feels unsafe, use common sense

    • If someone looks off, assume that they are

Generally speaking, you will likely not venture out into dangerous areas but you just want to make sure you’re not making yourself an easy target.

  • I always use eSIM DB: https://esimdb.com/brazil

They show the rates for all major eSIM providers and it’s generally cheaper than paying for an international data plan with your wireless carrier.

  • Most places in Brazil—restaurants, stores, even small shops—accept credit and debit cards.

However, never use a debit card for every-day transactions. Just like any other country, thieves like to take advantage of perceived weakness and I have heard many instances where they have overcharged for food or service.

For example, an thief might show you that they are charging your card $50 and after you confirm the price they will just add another 0 to the transaction before tapping “ok”, charging you $500. With credit cards, we can dispute any transaction with our bank. Debit cards do not have this same protection.

Pro tip: Many cards work contactless in Brazil, and mobile payments like Apple Pay or Google Pay are often accepted too! Apply Pay and Google Pay are un-skimmable forms of payment.

  • You’ll want to fly into Tancredo Neves International Airport (CNF), also known as Confins Airport, which is the main airport serving Belo Horizonte.

Alternatively, as mentioned on our Travel & Stay page, you can fly into Rio de Janeiro (SDU or GIG) and take a domestic flight to Belo Horizonte (CNF) for the wedding if you want to enjoy the sights and beach before or after our wedding.

  • Yes! Check the Travel & Stay section for hotel recommendations near the venue.

My favorite higher-end hotel in Belo Horizonte is Radisson Blu, but I usually go with whatever hotels seem the nicest within the Savassi neighborhood.

  • Transportation for Brazilian guests will be arranged only from Carandaí, mainly because most of the people being invited outside of Carandaí already have places to stay within Belo Horizonte.

As we do not have a partnership with any specific hotel, we may consider arranging Uber event codes to discourage drinking and driving but also for the convenience of our guest.

For international guests, we recommend using local taxi or ride-sharing apps like 99 or Uber to get to the venue. Cars in Brazil are much smaller than the US, I recomment ordering Uber Blacks whenever possible.

  • The ceremony and reception will both take place at Liac Eventos in Belo Horizonte, Brazil on November 15, 2025 @ 3:30PM.

  • If your invitation included a plus-one, they are absolutely welcome! If you're unsure, just reach out to us.

  • Absolutely! We love kids and would be happy to have them celebrate with us.
There will be a staffed childcare area at the venue, so parents can enjoy the evening knowing their little ones are safe and having fun. We’ll also have professional security on-site for everyone’s peace of mind.
